What to Do When Your Plant Arrives?

The Adenium plant may need a short recovery period after shipping. Follow these steps to help it adjust to its new environment:

• Let the Plant Rest: Keep the plant in a cool, dry place at normal room temperature for 8–10 hours before potting. This resting period helps reduce shipping stress.
• Pot the Plant: Plant it in a well-draining potting mix. If available, add a suitable fungicide powder while potting to help protect the roots.
• Provide Indirect Light: Place the newly potted plant in a bright spot with indirect sunlight for the first few days. Avoid direct sunlight until the plant has settled.
• Water Carefully: After potting, water the soil lightly to moisten it. Avoid overwatering, as excess moisture can increase the risk of root problems.

Plant Care Guide – How to Grow & Maintain Your Adenium?

1. Sunlight Requirements

Adenium grows best in full sunlight for at least 4–6 hours each day. Although it can tolerate partial sunlight, insufficient light may reduce flowering. If growing indoors, place the plant near a south-facing window or use grow lights to provide adequate light.

2. Watering Guidelines

Water your Adenium only when the soil is completely dry. During summer, watering about once a week is usually sufficient. In winter, reduce watering to once every two weeks. Always use a pot with drainage holes to prevent excess water from collecting around the roots.

3. Soil & Potting Mix

Use a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix for healthy growth. A mixture of cocopeat, vermicompost, bone meal, perlite, and river sand provides good aeration, retains the required moisture, and supports healthy root development. Avoid heavy or clay-rich soil, as it can retain excess water and increase the risk of root rot.

4. Fertilisation Tips

5. Pruning & Maintenance

Prune dead, damaged, or weak branches to encourage healthy new growth and maintain a bushier plant. Remove dried flowers regularly to promote continuous blooming. Always use clean, sterilised pruning shears to reduce the risk of infection.

6. Temperature & Humidity

Adenium grows well in temperatures between 20°C and 35°C (68°F to 95°F). If the temperature falls below 10°C (50°F), move the plant indoors or to a protected location to prevent cold damage. It grows best in low to moderate humidity.

7. Common Pests & Problems

• Aphids & Spider Mites: Control infestations using neem oil, a mild insecticidal soap, or KAKA.
• Root Rot: Usually caused by overwatering. Allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. During the monsoon, use SAAF fungicide if needed.
